We expect to have piglets available once or twice a year. We will let you know when the piglets are born, and you can decide if you want to opt in or out each time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>How do you decide who gets which cut?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Some cuts are more in demand than others, so you need to get your order in promptly to make sure you get your first choice. Fortunately, everyone likes different things, so it is usually possible to satisfy everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>How much meat will I get?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>One share is one-eighth of a pig. That means that a share is generally around 6kg of meat, but could be slightly more or less, depending on the size of the pig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>What about smaller or larger quantities?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Discounts are available if you want 2 or more shares (or half a pig). Half shares are also possible if a whole share is too much for you. Please ask for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>How about gluten free?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We may be able to arrange for the sausages and burgers to be made to a gluten free recipe if a large enough quantity is ordered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Shouldn\u2019t we be eating less meat to help the climate?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether or not you eat meat is up to you, but if you do, pork is a good choice for the planet \u2013 on average pork has only about a quarter of the climate impact when compared to beef. (See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-46459714\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-46459714<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Did you know?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our new Pig Club is reminiscent of the Pig Clubs that were set up in the 1940s to help provide food when supplies were short during the war. Many villages (including Martin!) had their own Pig Club. The members of the club would buy a piglet, and share feeding duties to raise the pig until it was ready for slaughter.
